WASHINGTON-The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, which includes NCUA, has issued the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Examination Manual. A release from the agencies stated, "The manual's release marks an important step forward in the effort to ensure the consistent application of the BSA to all banking organizations including commercial banks, savings associations, and credit unions." The FFIEC BSA/AML Examination Manual emphasizes the institution's responsibility to implement risk-based policies and procedures to comply with the BSA and safeguard against money laundering and terrorist financing. It will serve as a guide for examiners through an evaluation of compliance programs. The manual is posted at http://www.ffiec.gov/pdf/bsamanual.pdf.
