WASHINGTON-The Financial Literacy and Education Commission, created by the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act to coordinate the federal governments financial literacy efforts, held its third session Sept. 22. Treasury Under Secretary for Domestic Finance Brian Roseboro opened the meeting at the Treasury Department’s Cash Room located at 1500 Pennsylvania Ave. Treasury’s Office of Financial Education coordinates the efforts of the Financial Literacy and Education Commission, which is composed of representatives from 20 federal departments, agencies and commissions, including NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson. Representatives from the government, nonprofit, and private sectors were expected to present financial literacy best practices to the commission.
