SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Tapping into the interior design makeover craze Sunmark Federal Credit Union has launched the "Beyond Design" promotion. "Beyond Design came about as we looked for an opportunity to promote Sunmark's home equity and mortgage loan products," said SFCU Marketing Manager Bill Jenkins. "We decided early on to make sure the prize was big enough to overcome real remodeling and decorating challenges. It worked, because we received more than 200 entries and more than 1,600 people cast votes for the four finalists." To enter, contestants detailed their particular design problem with photographs throughout the month of March. Four finalists were selected and posted to the Sunmark FCU Web site, where voters were encouraged to select their favorite and given a chance to win $1,000 just for voting. Linda Gallagher was named the grand prize winner and received $10,000 to spend on her dining and living room remodel. In addition, Gallagher will have the services of Delmar Construction and Interior Design Lead Designer/President Linda Stockwell. The public will be able to follow progress on Linda's rooms through Sunmark's Web site: www.sunmarkfcu.org. The remaining three finalists were awarded $250 Home Depot gift cards and the $1000 prize was awarded to Gwendolyn Lawson. Contest co-sponsors included Delmar Construction and Interior Design, local radio station B95 FM, The Albany Times-Union and Lamar Advertising.
