PHILADELPHIA – After running its annual conference for 68 years as the Pennsylvania Credit Union League, the organization held its 69th annual conference and its first as the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association on April 24-26. The name change was approved by the members in November 2002, but it became official on April 24. Among the highlights of the three-day event was the delegates' approval of new Association Bylaws allowing for new board governance including a downsized board from 21 members to nine, term limits for board members, the elimination of table officers except chairman and chair-elect, and streamlined, more user-friendly bylaws. The PCUA Board said the streamlined governance will allow it to be more responsive to members' needs and to make strategic business decisions faster. Ninety-three percent of the more than 700 CUs in the state are PCUA affiliated.
