A NCUA approved merger between Affinity Federal Credit Union and Rutgers University Student and Alumni Federal Credit Union will make for some useful benefits for Rutgers students.

The NCUA liquidated KAPFCU despite an ongoing court battle in order to protect the assets of the CU's members, the agency said.

The $2 billion SEFCU credit union, headquartered in Albany, has purchased an area mortgage origination firm to expand its mortgage offerings.

NCUA sent the Kappa Alpha Psi Federal Credit Union three non-published Letters of Understanding and Agreement since April 2008 before it finally issued its Aug. 3 liquidation order, according to the agency's records.
