Payments CUSO PSCU said credit union shoppers continued to show strong growth in their credit and debit card spending in August, with inflation a major contributor.
PSCU of St. Petersburg, Fla., on Thursday released its PSCU Payments Index showing consumers spent 16% more by credit card in August than they did in August 2021, while spending by debit rose 7%. The effect of inflation is indicated by the slower growth in the number of transactions: Up 13% by credit and up 3% by debit.
