Even as the House considers legislation to make the NCUA subject to the annual appropriations process, the agency has announced it will hold a public briefing on its proposed 2018-2019 budget on Oct. 18.

The briefing will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will be live-streamed on the agency's website.

The House has been considering the FY18 Financial Services appropriations measure. As written, the bill would make the NCUA and the CFPB subject to the annual appropriations process. However, the House may consider amendments to eliminate that plan and the bill is unlikely to become law since Congress already has extended federal spending until December.
