From coast to coast this past week, credit unions announced hires, promotions and staff accolades. Plus, marketing agency BrownBoots hired a new manager.
The $11 billion Golden 1 Credit Union in Sacramento appointed Allyson Hill as SVP, CFO. Hill served as Golden 1’s vice president controller since 2012. In her new role, Hill directs financial plans and policies to ensure the credit union maintains long-term financial strength and stability. Hill is responsible for the formulation, development and implementation of accounting and tax practices, financial reporting, budgeting and maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies and external auditors.
The $2.6 billion SAFE Credit Union in Folsom, Calif., announced that Terrance Tremelling will be succeeding Ron Seamen as board chairman. Seaman will remain actively involved with SAFE as board director for the next three-year term. Seaman, who joined SAFE’s board of directors in 1986, became board chair in 1996 and served in that capacity for 20 years, has witnessed significant changes during his tenure. Under his leadership, SAFE enjoyed tremendous success with assets growing from $500 million and 94,000 members to current assets totaling more than $2.6 billion and 212,000 members.
Mike Parsons, CEO at the $489 million First Source Federal Credit Union in New Hartford, N.Y., was recognized as the Greater Utica Chamber’s 2016 Business Person of the Year. Parsons was chosen from a pool of many talented community leader nominees. His service to the Chamber and community at large, coupled with the growth of First Source under his leadership, are some of the contributions that helped him earn this prestigious recognition.
The $2.3 billion United Federal Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich., appointed five new branch managers in Berrien County, Mich.
Jodie Kitchell assumed the position of branch manager in St. Joseph, Mich. Kitchell replaces Emily Szymkiewicz, who was recently promoted to market vice president. Kitchell came to UFCU in 2007 and has served as a member service advisor and assistant manager of the member service center.
Wendy Hubbard was promoted from assistant branch manager to branch manager in Benton Harbor. Hubbard replaces Kylie Svorec, who assumed the position of director of the member service center. Hubbard joined UFCU in 2013 and has served as a teller and a member service advisor.
Thomas Newnum is the new branch manager in Stevensville. Newnum replaces Kameron Morris, who was recently promoted to the position of director of mortgage sales. Newnum was previously a mortgage advisor and member service advisor.
Vanessa Crescio was appointed to branch manager in Buchanan, Mich. Crescio’s background includes mortgage underwriter, real estate broker, and sales and marketing manager. Crescio holds a master’s in business administration from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business.
Brenda Roggow was promoted to branch manager in Berrien Springs. Roggow was formerly the assistant branch manager in St. Joseph. She came to UFCU in 2008. Roggow has attended Lake Michigan College and Davenport University.
Jackie Buchanan, president/CEO of the $2.3 billion Genisys Credit Union in Auburn Hills, Mich., received the Most Valuable Professional award from Corp! Magazine. Buchanan joined Genisys in 1991(previously T&C Federal Credit Union) as an accounting manager where she moved up through the ranks, and in 2010 was promoted to president/CEO. Under Buchanan’s leadership, Genisys has expanded to become one of the 100 largest credit unions in the nation.
Renee Shipko, community engagement liaison for the $2.1 billion Truliant Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., recently completed the National Credit Union Foundation’s certification for the role of Credit Union Development Educator.
Shipko is the first Truliant employee to receive the prestigious CUDE certification, and is one of only 87 CUDEs in the Carolinas. The Development Educator Training program teaches participants about cooperative principles, credit union philosophy and international development issues.
Terry Hardy, president/CEO of the $189 million MembersFirst Credit Union based in Decatur, Ga., was named chairman of the board of directors of the Georgia Credit Union League. Hardy will serve a two-year term as chairman of the board of the state trade association, supporting Georgia’s 114 credit unions which have combined assets of more than $21 billion and serve more than 2.1 million members.
BrownBoots Interactive Inc., a full-service marketing and website development agency, selected Danelle Smit for the newly created role of business development manager at the agency. As business development manager, Smit will engage and build relationships with prospective clients for the agency’s banking industry initiative – a specialized focus on website development and marketing services tailored to banks and credit unions nationwide. Prior to her move to BrownBoots, Smit, of Brandon, served as interactive marketing specialist at Agnesian HealthCare.
