Douglas Samuels, president/CEO of the $4 billion SpaceCoast Credit Union, died suddenly and unexpectedly Friday, theMelbourne, Fla.-based credit union said Friday.
|He was 57.
|Samuels joined SCCU in 1991 as the vice president of informationsystems. He was named CEO in 1997.
|“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing ofour dear friend and colleague, Doug Samuels,” Dale Neubert, boardchair for SCCU, said in a prepared statement. “He was first and foremosta generous, selfless individual dedicated to his family, as well asan inspiring mission-focused leader, who served the credit union,its employees, and its membership with vision and commitment. Hewill be greatly missed and we extend our deepest sympathies to hisfamily.” Timothy M. Antonition, executive vicepresident, chief operations officer, was appointed acting CEO, thecredit union said. Funeral arrangements arepending.
