Senate Democratic Leaders Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) has recommended former CFPB Assistant Director Rohit Chopra for a seat on the Federal Trade Commission.

Chopra currently is a senior fellow at the Consumer Federation of America, where he leads research and advocacy on consumer protection in finance and higher education.

Chopra is an outspoken critic of Trump and House Financial Services Chairman Jeb Hensarling's (D-Texas) to roll back the regulatory regime created in the Dodd-Frank Act. The FTC has five members; only three of them may be members of the same political party. There are three vacancies on the commission and presumably Trump would have three Republicans serving on the commission.
