CUNA President Jim Nussle, a former director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, on Thursday ruled out accepting a job in the incoming Trump administration.

"My passion is credit unions," Nussle said, responding to a question during a telephone conference call on Tuesday's election.

Nussle, a Republican, served as a Republican House member from Iowa from 1991 to 2007 and as chairman of its Budget Committee. He served in the George W. Bush Administration from 2007 to 2009—heading OMB.

Nussle said during the call that he is impressed that the after the heat of the election, Democrats and Republicans are approaching the transition in a cordial manner.

Reflecting on the bitter campaign, Nussle said, "Elections are inherently emotional," adding that "They're also very personal."
