Rod Calvao, former president/CEO of the $7.5 billion San Diego County Credit Union, who served the credit union industry for nearly four decades, passed away Aug. 31, the cooperative announced. He was 69.

"We mourn the loss of our dear friend Rod and our thoughts go out to his wife Barbara as well as his entire family," SDCCU President/CEO Teresa Halleck said in a prepared statement.

In its prepared statement, SDCCU also said Calvao was tremendously proud of the credit union's accomplishments and his bright smile and cheerful personality will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
