John Murphy, the 24-year president/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League, said June 3 he plans to retire on June 1, 2017.

The league retained O'Rourke & Associates to conduct a search for Murphy's successor.

Murphy has held numerous positions during his 43-year career with the Maine league and its for-profit services subsidiary, Synergent. In July 1992, he was appointed president/CEO of the Maine league and the subsidiary. Murphy participated in the development of many products, services and programs for credit unions, the league said.
