To mark its 10th anniversary, Affinity Federal Credit UnionFoundation, the philanthropic arm of Affinity Federal Credit Union,has provided a $10,000 grant to New Jersey Community Capital.

NJCC is a nonprofit community development financial institutionthat provides innovative financing and technical assistance tofoster the creation of quality homes, educational facilities, andemployment opportunities in underserved communities of NewJersey.

“Research shows that counseled homebuyers achieve greatersuccess in maintaining home ownership, as well as significantreductions in costly late payments, delinquencies and defaults whencompared directly to non-counseled homeowners. Our goal atboth the Foundation and Affinity is to make successful homeownership available to more New Jersey families. Financialeducation and credit counseling are the first steps,” FoundationExecutive Director Dr. Lauretta A. Farrell said.

The donation will provide the seed money to create a specialfinancial education and credit counseling program specifically forlow to moderate income families seeking home ownership.
