Without getting overly sentimental or canonizing him (neither of which he would like) let me say that he is one of the finest to have ever worn a "credit union uniform."
He helped build a great corporate system, but more importantly he teaches so many of us in credit unions the true meaning of leadership. The ability to listen, learn and communicate professionally, all with an appropriate sense of modesty, kindness and humor, are some of his gifts.
