The state of Illinois will soon see its first new consumer federal credit union in more than a decade.
The ELCA Federal Credit Union became the third new federally chartered credit union in 2015 as of Tuesday.
According to a media release, the NCUA's Office of Consumer Protection granted the charter to ELCA FCU to serve employees, members, synods and member congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
ELCA FCU headquarters will be located in Chicago and will open the first quarter of 2016. The Evangelical Lutheran Church headquarters are also located in Chicago.
The credit union will offer basic deposit accounts, credit cards, auto loans and online and mobile banking.
