Credit unions across the nation announced 20 new hires and promotions this week. Trades also elected new board members and handed out several awards.
EAST
Theresa Williams-Barrett has joined the $2.3 billion Affinity Federal Credit Union in Basking Ridge, N.J. as its vice president of consumer lending and loan administration. Prior to joining Affinity, Williams-Barrett served as vice president of mortgage operations and vice president of lending at the $4.2 billion United Nations Federal Credit Union in Long Island City, N.Y.
David Van Rossum was appointed chief administration officer for the $2.6 billion Service Credit Union in Portsmouth, N.H. He joined the credit union board of directors in 1990. He previously served as chief financial officer for Endicott Interconnect Technologies Inc. and Tyco International.
Nicole Dawson was named assistant vice president of human resources at the $1.1 billion Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union in Lowell, Mass. She holds 10 years of experience in the human resources field.
MIDWEST
Steve Cobb was named vice president and chief financial officer at the $122 million United Educational Credit Union in Battle Creek, Mich. He holds 25 years of professional experience in the credit union and finance industries.
The $2.7 billion Landmark Credit Union in New Berlin, Wis.appointed Jodi Greenmeier as vice president of human resources. She recently served as senior human resources manager at the Milwaukee, Wis.-based Briggs and Stratton.
Cody Higley was appointed as mortgage sales support manager for the $1.8 billion United Federal Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich. He previously served as a mortgage loan originator with UFCU in Marion, Ohio.
SOUTH
Issac Johnson was appointed vice president, chief risk officer and general counsel for the $2.5 billion Texas Dow Employees Credit Union in Lake Jackson, Texas. With more than 20 years of legal and financial experience, he previously worked for Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase, Winstead PC and Thompson & Knight LLP.
The $1.1 billion MAX Credit Union in Montgomery, Ala. named Steven Soltau as a mortgage originator. Soltau began his banking career in Tallahassee, Fla. in 2000 and later became a branch manager in 2004. He most recently served an assistant vice president and branch manager at a financial institution in Opelika.
WEST
The $9.1 billion Golden 1 Credit Union in Sacramento hired Erica Taylor as its new vice president of communications and community relations. Taylor joined the credit union from a Sacramento-area community business bank where she led the community relations and communications efforts for six years.
The $6.9 billion San Diego County Credit Union named Michael Corpuz senior vice president of business lending. Before joining SDCCU, Corpuz served as senior vice president for business banking for Citibank's San Diego, Inland Empire and Las Vegas regions. The California cooperative also named Dennis Kingery as senior vice president of accounting operations. He previously served as senior director of finance, director of accounting and as an accounting manager for the $1.3 billion Westerra Credit Union in Denver, Colo.
The $378 million Global Credit Union in Spokane, Wash., said it hired 10 new employees. Jason Seier was hired as an internal auditor. Catlin Montgomery joined Global CU as a loan processor and Jennifer Lipton was hired as a dealer/indirect loan processor. Hannah Harari, Ali Spahn, Rebecca Reed, Jessica Prior, Ernest Usher, Ericka Rocha-Rueda and Monica Lim were hired as a member services representatives.
TRADES
The Maine Credit Union League said its board of directors elected Jim Lemieux, president/CEO of the $83 million Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union in Pittsfield, as the board's chair and Rick Lachance, president/CEO of the $33 million Connected Credit Union in Augusta was elected as the board's vice chair. Kyle Casburn, president/CEO of the $116 million Seaboard Federal Credit Union in Bucksport was elected as the board's secretary. Dave Desjardins, president/CEO of the $135 million Acadia Federal Credit Union in Fort Kent also was elected to the league's board of directors.
Justin Mouzoukos, chief financial officer for the $509 million Mazuma Credit Union in Overland Park, Kan., was honored as the 2015 Volunteer of the Year for his achievements and dedication to the CUNA CFO Council and the credit union industry during an awards luncheon at the CUNA CFO Council Conference in May. This award recognizes contributions to the council, which as a member-led organization relies on volunteers.
The Pennsylvania Credit Union Association awarded Dennis Flickinger, President/CEO of the $164 million First Capital Federal Credit Union in York with the William W. Pratt Lifetime Achievement Award for the 2015 Credit Union Professional of the Year in May. For the past 25 years, he served in numerous leadership positions in Pennsylvania's credit union movement, including president of the York Chapter of Credit Unions. He also served on the Pennsylvania association's regulatory review and governmental affairs committees, as well as the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank's Credit Union Council. For the past 10 years, he served on the board of directors of Mid-Atlantic Corporate Federal Credit Union as supervisory committee chair and board chair.
Mark Minickiello, vice president of legislative affairs for the Northwest Credit Union Association, was appointed to the Financial Education Public-Private Partnership by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee. The FEPPP promotes financial education in grades K–12 by providing professional development and instructional tools for teachers so that they can teach personal finance in their classrooms.
