A flash mob helped introduce United Federal Credit Union, based in St. Joseph, Mich.,  to locals in Alma, Arkansas.

Joining in on the celebration were the Alma High School Marching Band and the school's award-winning dance team, the Dazzlers.

"We decided to do something different from the typical grand opening, so we drew from the community to stage a flash mob" said Starlette Accurso-Owens, Alma branch manager. "I think everyone really enjoyed it. There were lots of smiles."

As part of UFCU's continued expansion plans, the latest branch grand opening marked the $1.8 billion credit union's fifth branch in Arkansas.

"Our charter allows us to assist the financial needs of anyone in Oklahoma and Arkansas, and we are growing quickly. We currently have just under 25,000 Members in Arkansas and have seen a 15 percent increase in membership each year since the start of 2013," Noel Sanger, Arkansas market vice president at UFCU said.

Alma Mayor Keith Green and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lisa Norris also took part in the ribbon-cutting.

"This is the first credit union to come into Alma and to have them here is wonderful," Norris said.
