Richard Vega, board member and current chair ofthe $163 million Greater Alliance Federal CreditUnion in Paramus, N.J., was inducted into the Credit UnionHouse Hall of Leaders in Wash., D.C. Vega joined the board 41 yearsago and was elected its chair in 1994.

Ashton Levis joined the $814 millionSt. Mary's Bank in Manchester, N.H. as a consumerloan officer. Levis previously worked at the Exeter FinanceCorporation, also based in Manchester.

Gary E. Furtado, president/CEO of the $1.5billion Navigant Credit Union in Smithfield, R.I.,was named the 2015 recipient of the Ben G. Mondor Award from thePawtucket Red Sox and the Northern Rhode Island Chamber ofCommerce. The award recognizes a Rhode Island business leader whoshows significant achievements in community involvement andservice. Under Furtado's leadership, the cooperative sponsored“Kids in the Canyon,” a program that sends local students to theGrand Canyon, hosted financial literacy and money managementclasses at local high schools across the state, and held toy andfood drives during the holiday season.

Kim Sponem, president/CEO of the $2 billionSummit Credit Union in Madison, Wis., wasappointed to a three-year term on an advisory council that reportsto the Chicago Federal Reserve System. The Community DepositoryInstitutions Advisory Council offers input and promotescommunications between the Chicago Fed and representatives fromcommunity depository institutions, including credit unions, thriftsand banks based in Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and most ofIllinois.

Dennis Holthaus, senior vice president andchief financial officer for the $1 billion Achieva CreditUnion in Tampa, Fla, won the 2015 CFO of the Year award inthe large nonprofit category from the Tampa Bay BusinessJournal. Holhaus, a veteran of the financial servicesindustry, was selected as the top CFO for his deep knowledge of theindustry, and his willingness to embrace change and make toughdecisions during the most recent economic crisis. Working in thefinancial services arena since 1972, Holthaus joined Achieva CU in2009.

Rachel Langtry joined the $515 millionGreater Nevada Credit Union as its vice presidentof people. Prior to joining the Carson City, Nev.-basedcooperative, she was the senior vice president of administrationand communications at the $923 million Credit Union 1 in Anchorage,Alaska.

The $370 million Global Credit Union inSpokane, Wash., presented Angela Futrell, a memberservices representative, with the La Liberte Community ExcellenceAward, which recognizes an employee whose exemplary service to thecommunity makes a significant impact. Futrell donated more than 225hours throughout 2014 that supported a diverse range of causes andgroups. She joined Global CU in 2012 and works at the cooperative'sCamp Darby branch in Tirrenia, Italy.

The Georgia Credit Union League announced this year's winners oftwo of its most prestigious annual awards. MarshallBoutwell, president/CEO of the $261 million PeachState Federal Credit Union in Lawrenceville, Ga., is therecipient of the Moses C. Davis Lifetime Achievement Award. Thisaward is reserved for a Georgia credit union leader who hasdemonstrated extraordinary commitment to the credit union movementin his or her career. Diana Houston, senior vicepresident of business development at Georgia Credit UnionAffiliates is the winner of the Eloise Woods DistinguishedService Award. This award honors an individual who has worked toadvance cooperative finance for the benefit of Georgiacitizens.
