 Social media brings an interesting connotation, depending on who you’re talking to. For some, social media is the greatest thing ever, while others find it extremely disappointing and overrated. But there’s no question that many executives are still unaware of its basic impact to their business—the potential it brings for connecting with new people.

What exactly are they afraid of, then?

It can be intimidating to start conversations and cultivate relationships, both face-to-face and online. And to build relationships, you need time, effort, and to an extent, funding. However, social media can instantly connect an individual or business with a massive, targeted online pool, and those who go all in reap the benefits. They graduate from occasional social media users to what I refer to as social media embracers.
