The Iowa Insurance Commissioner took control of the Des Moines, Iowa-based CoOportunity Health insurance exchange on Dec. 23. The cooperative was approved by the federal government to provide Affordable Care Act-compatible health insurance to consumers in Iowa and Nebraska.

Seeing an opportunity to serve members looking for federally mandated health insurance and boost noninterest income, credit unions in the two states partnered with the firm to provide financial payment channels and signed up thousands of members as new enrollees.
