The $390 million USC Credit Union and the $467 million Notre Dame Federal Credit Union have begun competing to see which one can get the most auto loan applications before their two sponsoring schools meet on the football field Nov. 29.
The University of Southern California-University of Notre Dame rivalry is one of the most storied in college football, dating back to the 1920's according to sports media outlets.
Each credit union will contribute $5,000 to a $10,000 prize that the winning credit union will donate to a charity.

USC Credit Union has chosen USC Good Neighbors, an organization the university founded to help support development work in neighborhoods surrounding its Los Angeles campus.
Notre Dame FCU selected the Kelly Cares Foundation, a cancer-survival organization, to receive its contribution should it win.
This is the second year the two schools have competed in this way.
Last year, the two battled to collect the most credit card applications, with USC winning that contest.
