The $1.1 billion Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union in Lowell, Mass, hired Matthew Bernard as assistant vice president for network operations. He has more than 15 years of experience in the technology industry and was awarded two Purple Stars for wounds he received in combat while serving as an infantryman in Iraq and Afghanistan during his 12 years of service with the Army and Army National Guard.
The $2.8 billion Tower Federal Credit Union in Laurel, Md., promoted Nadine Kopkowski to vice president and director of marketing. Kopkowski joined Tower in 1986 and was vice president of product management for the past 16 years. Tower also hired Kevin Kramer as vice president and director of human resources. Kramer has led HR programs at Accenture and served as an HR consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, supporting federal defense agencies in the Baltimore/Washington area.
South
The Tennessee Credit Union League and Volunteer Corporate Credit Union inducted three credit union leaders into the Tennessee Credit Union Hall of Fame at their recent annual convention in Chattanooga. They were Sara Broxterman, retired president/CEO of Kimberly Clark Credit Union, R. Bruce Runyan, director at Ascend Federal Credit Union and Jimmie Bearden, former president/CEO of Ascend Federal Credit Union.
Midwest
The $886 million Motorola Employees Credit Union in Schaumburg, Ill., said President/CEO John C. Fiore will retire on Aug. 29 and be succeeded by Michael R. Murphy, the current EVP/COO. Fiore took the helm at MECU in 1985 after he was hired in the loan department in 1969. Fiore also has served as vice chair of Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union, chair of the Illinois Credit Union League, chair of the National Credit Union Foundation, CUNA director, chairman of Card Services for Credit Unions and vice chair of Financial Services Center Cooperative. Murphy joined MECU in 1996 as vice president of lending and support services and has been EVP/COO since 1998.
CUNA named three new vice presidents in Madison, Wis. James Carrick has been with CUNA for 11 years and was promoted from associate vice president to learning to vice president of learning events. Kristina Grebener has been with CUNA for 15 years and was promoted from director of business and consumer publishing to vice president of market research & consumer education. Marlo Foltz was promoted from associate vice president to vice president of blended learning at CUNA's Center for Professional Development, where she has been for 15 years.
West
The $86 million Cherokee Strip Credit Union in Ponca City, Okla., named Jeff Dahlgren as its vice president of lending/chief lending officer. Dahlgren had been a mortgage banker with Southern Missouri Bank in Marshfield, Mo.
The $2.3 billion Texas Dow Employees Credit Union in Lake Jackson, Texas, hired Harold Nicoll as its vice president of marketing. Nicoll has more than 20 years' experience, including leadership roles in global marketing communications and public affairs before retiring from Dow Chemical Co. in 2011.
The Idaho Credit Union League named Larry Neznanski, board chair of the $385 million CapEd Federal Credit Union in Meridian, as its Volunteer of the Year at the league's annual meeting in May. Neznanski has been a credit union volunteer for 17 years and taught high school physics and math for 20 years. He has participated in the Idaho Governmental Affairs Conference, Hike-the-Hill, annual meetings and numerous workshops and seminars. The league also named Cheri Schaafs, president/CEO of the $17 million Mountain Gem Credit Union in Nampa, as its Outstanding Professional of the Year. She has been in her current job for the past 14 years.

SilverCloud Inc. in Portsmouth, N.H., hired David Hadley as chief technology officer. Hadley had been at Deep Green and was a special adviser to to an FFIEC task force on e-banking and information security.
Del Mar Recovery Solutions in Carslbad, Caif., hired Claudia Plascencia as SVP in charge of client relations business development. She had been with Repo Remarketing for the past five years.
CU Direct in Ontario, Calif., elected John Lund, president/CEO of the $6.2 billion America First Credit Union in Riverdale, Utah, to his second term as the CUSO's chairman. Elected to new three-year terms as board members at CU Direct's recent annual conference in Las Vegas were Jeff March, president/CEO of Citadel Federal Credit Union in Exton, Pa.; Keith Sultemeier, president/CEO of Kinecta Federal Credit Union in Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Jim Laffoon, president/CEO of Security Service Federal Credit Union in San Antonio.
