The $1.15 billion CAMPUS USA Credit Union has named a new CEO.
Larry Scott, CEO of the Jonesville, Fla., credit union for 23 years will step down from the CEO position as of July 1, the credit union announced. His replacement is current COO Jerry Benton, a 14-year veteran of the credit union who previously served on the management team at Decatur EarthMover Credit Union in Illinois.
Benton will take the reins at the credit union on July 1 as well.
“We couldn't be happier with the board's decision to select Jerry as my successor, after conducting a national search. He is an excellent leader who is well respected in our industry, by our staff, and the communities we serve. He has been instrumental in our growth and success over the last 14 years. Jerry's knowledge, experience, values, and commitment to the credit union and our members will help CAMPUS build a new and exciting future, while remaining safe, strong, and secure for years to come,” Scott said.
Since signing on as CAMPUS USA Credit Union's top officer in 1990, Scott has helped the credit union grow from $90 million to over $1 billion in assets, the credit union said. Under his leadership CAMPUS USA has added 11 new service centers, a 95,000-square-foot corporate headquarters building and expanded its membership charter, which now includes 12 counties throughout North Central Florida.
CAMPUS USA will celebrate its 80th year of operations in 2015.
“Larry has been a tremendous asset to CAMPUS USA Credit Union and its members. We will miss him greatly but he is leaving the credit union wellpositioned for even greater success in the future,” stated Ruby P. Puckett, chair of the CAMPUS USA board.
