The $253 million Dominion Credit Union in Richmond, Va., plans to convert to the Symitar Episys core processing platform from Jack Henry & Associates of Monett, Mo.
The 21,800-member Dominion said it has been on its current system for more than 20 years and made its decision after comparing the costs of converting core platforms to the cost of a hardware upgrade it was facing, the credit union said March 11 in a statement from Symitar.
On its website an announcement from Dominion reads: "To better serve you, this spring we'll be upgrading our operating systems. This powerful new system will allow for quicker account opening, faster call center and teller service, and more products and features."

Dominion currently is one of 230 credit unions on the Fiserv DataSafe platform, according to the 2014 Supplier Market Share Guide from Callahan & Associates. DataSafe was formerly from USERS Inc., one of the seven core processors that Fiserv had acquired over the years and later combined into what is now its Credit Union Platforms operation.
Symitar said it has more than 750 credit unions on its platforms.
