In an collaborative effort to encourage consumers to get financially fit in 2014, credit unions, leagues and other industry groups will come together to make it happen this weekend at the NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo.
More than 85,000 attendees will descend on the Washington Convention Center Jan. 11- 12 for the event.
Credit unions have partnered with SavvyMoney to bring consumer financial expert, Jean Chatzky, to the expo, as well as offer free financial checkups for attendees. They will also host a seminar on financial fitness featuring Chatzky at 2 p.m. Jan. 11.
Following the presentation, Chatzky will do an autograph signing of her book, Money Rules: The Simple Path to Lifelong Security, at the Dollars & Sense Credit Union Pavilion, booth #2333.
Expo attendees will also get the opportunity to take the SavvyMoney Checkup, a free financial assessment that has been designed especially for credit union members to evaluate debt and expenses relative to one's income and offers suggestions to help improve their situation, according to the MD|DC Credit Union Association.
In addition to 21 area credit unions, the MD|DC Credit Union Association, Virginia Credit Union League, The Credit Union Foundation and CUNA will participate in the event.
