The $1 billion Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union in Lowell Mass. announced that Anne-Marie Bisson, vice president-financial education, and Mariann O'Brien, assistant vice president-branch operations, were named 2013 Credit Union Heroes by Banker & Tradesman, a weekly publication that provides Massachusetts financial services and real estate news. The Credit Union Heroes award celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the industry and the community. Bisson was cited for financial education and her work in founding and operating Catie's Closet, a nonprofit initiative that provides clothing and other necessities for children and teens struggling with homelessness and poverty. O'Brien's nomination noted her her work as a director of Budget Buddies, a nonprofit organization that improves the financial literacy of low-income women, and her work on Lowell's Acre Committee To Improve Our Neighborhood. The two women received their awards during a September 12th ceremony at the Omni Parker House in Boston.

Other winners included Ingrid Adade, financial education officer, at the $607 million Leominster Credit Union in Leominster, Mass.; Robin Burns, corporate trainer, at the $465 million Sharon Credit Union of Sharon, Mass.; Catherine Goodall, vice president, controller, and Herb White, assistant vice president, business development, at the $979 million Workers' Credit Union of Fitchburg, Mass.; Debra Hayward, vice president of lending, at the $45 million Pioneer Valley Federal Credit Union of Springfield, Mass.; David A. L'Ecuyer, president/CEO, at the $376 million Central One Federal Credit Union of Worcester, Mass.; Michael Maestri, consumer loan manager, and Saritin Rizzuto, community relations and business development officer, at the $1.2 billion Metro Credit Union of Chelsea, Mass.; Jon Reske, vice president of marketing and member outreach at the $377 million UMassFive College Federal Credit Union of ­Hadley, Mass.; and Ray Wrobel, vice president, business development, at the $547 million Align Credit Union of Lowell, Mass.
