Farouk Wang, longtime board member at the $553 million University of Hawaii Federal Credit Union, died this past weekend at age 70, the credit union announced.

Wang was on the Honolulu-based credit union's board for more than 30 years, including stints as chair and mostly recently treasurer. He also served the state's credit unions as chair of the Hawaii Credit Union League ad a director for the CUNA Mutual Group.

"Farouk's wisdom, thoughtfulness, and passion for the credit union movement were driving forces behind much of the innovations and benefits members have enjoyed over the years," UHFCU said in its announcement of Wang's passing.
