The Louisiana Credit Union League has released a radio spotpromoting shared branching as a reason Louisiana residents shouldjoin credit unions as hurricane season begins.

The radio ad includes the line: “Now is the time to hurricaneproof your money.”

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration launches itsofficial hurricane season on Saturday, June 1.

“As we prepare for this year's active storm season we are armedwith the knowledge that preparation is key, especially when itcomes to access to financial resources during an evacuation,” saidAnne Cochran, LCUL president/CEO.

“We urge our members to plan ahead and utilize our resources tofind shared branch locations well in advance of a severe weatherevent,” Cochran said.

The league noted that NOAA has predicted an “extremely active”hurricane season this year in the Atlantic basin, with thepotential for three to six hurricanes with wind speeds above 100mph.

“We encourage credit unions and their members to take precautionearly,” the league said.
