The $91 million Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union in Germantown, Md., is now offering its 13,700-members the ability to deposit checks with their smartphones.
MC EFCU is using technology from Intuit Financial Services of Calabasas, Calif., to add the mobile remote deposit checking service. The apps are available from the Apple App Store and Google Play sites.
“This newest addition to the mobile banking option assures our customers can have a branch experience when they're not close to one of our branches,” said Jim Norris, the credit union's president/CEO.
MC EFCU added an iPad banking app earlier this year.
The credit union said a recent survey of its members found that 53% reported using a mobile device and/or tablet for their online banking services.
MC EFCU recently expanded its charter to serve additional public sector employees from Montgomery County agencies, including employees and retirees from both Montgomery County Public Schools and Montgomery College.
