Mhervin Dagdagan, Amanda Yau and Athena Favero stand by the new Carson High School debit card they helped design for Greater Nevada Credit Union.

Students at Carson High School in Carson City, Nev., will now be able to get a student-designed debit card when they open a checking account at the Greater Nevada Credit Union branch in the school.

The 45,000-member, $445 million GVCU has had a branch in the school since 1996, which it uses to promote financial education and vocational training. Students enrolled in a class on banking at the high school, which is taught by Greater Nevada staff, run the branch.
