The $252 million American 1 Credit Union in Jackson, Mich., said letting members choose the image on their cards for an additional fee resulted in $4,759.50 in donations to five charities in 2012.

Five charity-focused images debit and credit cards are available and half the fee goes to the specific charity:  the Michigan Humane Society, National Breast Cancer Foundation, Autism Society of Michigan, C.S. Mott Children's Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.

American 1 said more than 1,500 of its 50,200 members chose to make the move to a charity card last year.
