The 84,000 members of the $1.3 billion NASA Federal Credit Union are now able to purchase Visa branded gift cards through at least some of their credit union's ATMs.
The new gift card enabled machines are located at several of the credit union's branches in the suburbs of Washington, D.C.
NASA FCU CEO Doug Allman said the new program is another important step forward. "Our focus has always been on providing value-driven, secure products and services that reflect the needs of the members we serve," Allman said. "Because we understand the demands of hectic schedules, offering ATM-dispensed Visa gift cards delivers leading-edge technology that provides one-stop convenience for our members' banking and gift giving needs."

The credit union partnered with Better ATM Services, a technology integration firm based in Mesa, Ariz., which has launched a similar gift card through ATM partnership with Banner FCU in Phoenix, only with Discover-branded cards.
The cards are not embossed and are made of a thinner material that has been rigorously tested for durability and meets Visa's strict requirements for reliable, secure acceptance, the credit union said.
The gift cards are dispensed directly from the cash tray and are accompanied by coupons that provide consumers with value-added incentives. The cards can be used wherever Visa gift cards are accepted.
