The $54 million Stamford Federal Credit Union in Stamford,Conn., said it now is the first credit union in its market to offermobile banking to its membership.

The 4,700-member SFCU is headquartered in the StamfordGovernment Center and serves city employees and their families.

The mobile banking service is on the mFoundryplatform through the credit union's core processor, COCC of Avon, Conn.

The service includes SMS text banking, a browser-basedapplication and downloadable apps for Apple and Android devices,the credit union said. The service launched in mid-August and SFCUsaid it expects 3% of its membership to be signed up by the end ofthis month.

“Given the widespread popularity and use of mobile devices, weare excited to provide the tools members need to manage theirfinances in ways that make sense for their busy lives,” said SFCUPresident David Lucas.
