Consumers Credit Union, Kalamazoo, Mich., celebrated the opening of its new Mattawan office with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Consumers, which began operations in 1951, currently serves all of western Michigan with 14 full-service offices. The Mattawan location features 3,100 square feet of office space, a full-service lobby, an online banking center, tellers, a loan and member service area, drive thru lanes and an ATM. There is also a free coffee bar, children's play area and free wireless Internet access. The credit union also celebrated the opening of its new Portage Road office. This branch is also 3,100 square feet and has the same services and amenities as the Mattawan office.
CorePlus Federal Credit Union, Norwich, Conn., officials announced the grand opening celebration of their second "Loan Zone" office, with a ceremonial ribbon cutting with Norwich Chamber of Commerce President Nancy Gray. The Norwich location follows the recent opening of the Putnam Loan Zone office .CorePlus Loan Zones are dedicated to serving member borrowing needs in a fast, efficient and no-hassle environment. Each of the new Loan Zone offices will provide a full range of consumer lending and mortgage products, including credit cards, auto loans, personal loans, lifestyle loans, student loans, home equity loans and mortgages in a teller line free professional office.
Eagle One FCU and SERVCO FCU, Philadelphia, celebrated the grand opening of their new joint branch office in the Rhawnhurst section. Members were treated to refreshments, snacks and a chance to enter a raffle for prizes. The branch is the first for SERVCO and the fifth for Eagle One. Eagle One has $45 million in assets and serves postal employees in the Philadelphia District, as well as the communities of Fishtown in Philadelphia and Claymont, Del. SERVCO, which originally served employees of the old Gulf Oil Corp., has less than $3 million in assets and now serves a varied membership base in the Philadelphia area. The new branch office features three teller windows and back offices for administrative staff and loan officers. The location in northeast Philadelphia will enable Eagle One to serve the large number of members who live in that area. In return, SERVCO will share the expenses of the office with Eagle One, thereby reducing the burden of operating the branch independently.

Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, Radcliff, Ky., will build its first free-standing branch in Jefferson County. Construction will begin immediately with a tentatively scheduled opening by the end of 2012. The new branch will serve approximately 2,000 Fort Knox Federal members who live in Jefferson County. The new Valley Station area location will be the credit union's 15th branch and offer a full range of personal and business financial services. The new branch will also feature full member service operations, including mortgage and loan processing, free ATM, two double-stack drive-thru lanes and in-branch teller service along with online banking at self-service computer kiosks. Design Build Concepts Inc. from Atlanta will manage the construction project and will utilize local subcontractors.
Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, Broomhall, Pa., held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open its new Downingtown, Pa., office in the Brandywine Square Shopping Center. Members of the FMFCU board of directors and executive team, along with local dignitaries, were on hand to commemorate the event. The Downingtown branch staff subsequently hosted a grand-opening celebration featuring prize drawings and the opportunity to unlock the FMFCU Treasure Chest filled with cash prizes. During the event, children filled a bag of their favorite candies from the FMFCU candy bar, had their faces painted and received balloons.
Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, Tampa, Fla., announced that its 19th branch is scheduled to open on Aug. 27. The new downtown branch will feature an alternative to traditional bank lobby designs, a contemporary color scheme and interactive technology showcasing a new virtual money machine. In addition to the new downtown branch opening this August, Grow Financial also plans to open new branches in Lakeland and Wesley Chapel in 2012 and 2013.
Navy Federal Credit Union, Vienna, Va., opened the doors of its newest branch in Riverside, Calif. The branch, serving March Air Reserve Base, is located on Valley Springs Parkway. The new location will be the fifth Navy Federal branch in Riverside County, expanding member service at Navy Federal for over 20,000 local members. In celebration of the opening, exclusive offers at the Riverside branch included specials on credit cards and CDs, military discounts on auto loans and an incentive for opening Active Duty Checking accounts. Also, a Facebook promotion coinciding with the branch opening offers a gift to members that visit the branch.
Shell Federal Credit Union, Houston, welcomed two new branches, expanding into the east and northeast quadrants of Houston. The doors of the Wilson branch opened on June 26, and two weeks later, the doors of the Woodforest branch opened on July 10. Grand opening celebrations were held at both branches with iPad giveaways, free food, Disney performances and other grand opening events.
Spokane Teachers Credit Union, Spokane, Wash., has broken ground on a Moran Prairie branch that's expected to open before the end of the year. It will be the 16th branch for the region's largest credit union. Designed by Nystrom+Olson Architecture, the new branch will be similar in many ways to the South Valley branch that STCU opened in November. Walker Construction won the $916,000 contract for the 4,096-square-foot building. As with the South Valley branch, this one is being designed for eventual certification as a LEED Gold building for environmental stewardship. When fully staffed, the branch will have a manager, assistant manager and the equivalent of eight other full-time employees. That staff will include real estate and small business lenders.
University Federal Credit Union, Austin, Texas, announced the opening of its fourth interactive financial center located in West Lake Hills. This location totals 4,800 square feet, is built in a retail configuration and also offers 24/7 drive-thru ATMs, a self-serve coin counting machine, safe deposit boxes, financial planning, and investment and trust services.
UW Credit Union, Madison, Wis., announced it had reached a definitive agreement to construct a new branch on Northport Drive in Madison. The property will become UW Credit Union's 13th branch in Dane County and the 22nd branch location in Wisconsin. Construction on the new branch will start in September, and the branch is scheduled to open in spring 2013. The Northport location will be a full-service branch and will include drive-up service and surcharge-free ATMs.
