Louisiana credit unions remained closed and hunkered down Wednesday waiting for Hurricane Isaac to pass through and damage and power outage reports to come in, according to the Louisiana Credit Union League.
Any assessment of damage to credit union and member property would have to come in the morning, as torrential rains showed no signs of letting up late Wednesday, said Connie Major, executive vice president of the league.

"Credit union employees and their families across the state are simply sheltered in place riding this one out," Major said from her Baton Rouge home "where the lights are still on."
If there had been major catastrophes as in Katrina in 2005, "we probably would have heard by now," she said. "Credit unions would be letting us know."
