It's been a standout year for women in business. For the first time in history, there are now 20 female CEOs at the 500 biggest U.S. corporations, several foreign businesswomen moving into global power positions and a growing number of women on major company boards, inching past 16% in the US and higher than 40% in Norway. 

“There's a lot of change happening in the world,” says Ilene Lang, president and CEO of Catalyst, a research and advisory organization dedicated to advancing women into business leadership. “These are not token women. We see breadth, depth and many different industries.”
