Three defense credit unions were recognized with distinguished service awards by their respective branches of the armed services during the recent defense credit union's annual conference.
Although the criteria for this award is structured differently by each of the respective military departments, major common areas of consideration are the delivery of financial service "above and beyond normal requirements," special services provided at the command's request, financial education and training, action taken to combat predatory lending, community support, and professional attitude and financial leadership.
The awards were presented to Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, Fort Knox, Ky., for the Army award; Navy Federal Credit Unions branch at Naval Submarine Base, New London, Conn., for the Navy/Marine Corps award; and Hanscom Federal Credit Union, Hanscom AFB, Mass., for the Air Force award.
