Barry Roach has been named president/CEO of the $293 million SafeAmerica Credit Union, the San Francisco credit union's board announced.

Roach had been vice president of retail delivery at the $1.1 billion Meriwest Credit Union in San Jose, Calif., where he established the strategic direction for the Retail Delivery group, including supporting sales and service activities, his new employer said.

Roach also had been a national senior consultant for CIBC in Toronto, Ontario, where he implemented national sales and marketing programs. He holds a master of business in finance degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Roach succeeds Richard Jordan in the post and was hired following a search conducted with assistance from O'Rourke & Associates in San Francisco, the credit union said.
