CUNA, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions and the NorthCarolina Credit Union League were finalizing their plans this weekto meet and greet delegates convening in Tampa, Fla., andCharlotte, N.C., for the national political conventions.

The GOP festivities start Sunday in Tampa and the LSCU said itis making final arrangements for its reception functions invitinglawmakers and other civic leaders to league-sponsored events duringthe weeklong nomination fete.

One of the highlights in both cities will be CUNA's “leave behind” project in which the trade groups along with theNational Journal hold ribbon cutting ceremonies to markthe launch of constructing or retrofitting playground facilities atchildren's hospitals.

The equipment purchases are being paid for with donations fromCUNA, individual credit unions, the leagues and theirfoundations. The ribbon cutting for the retrofitting ofequipment at All Children's Hospital in nearby St. Petersburg willbe Aug. 29.

Meanwhile, the North Carolina League said it has invited topmanagement of credit unions in North and South Carolina to takepart in a special delegate reception Sept. 5 at the Aria TucsonGrill at 5:30 p. m. preceded in the morning by the groundbreakingceremony at Levine Children's Hospital inCharlotte.
