Credit unions developing the mobile channel might keep in mind two "S" words: speed and spam.

The Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project cited unwanted sales texts (and calls) and slow download speeds as among the most prevalent problems that mobile phone users face.

"Even though mobile technology often simplifies the completion of everyday tasks, cell phone owners can also encounter technical glitches and unwanted intrusions on their phones," the Pew report said, basing its findings on a survey this past spring.
