The $2.3 billion, 168,200-member Michigan State University FCU in East Lansing, Mich., recently announced the winners of its 2012 “Millionaire for a Day” contest and made a serious fuss over the local victor. Ryan Simons, 9, of Arlington, Va., received $150 deposited into his MSUFCU Dollar Dog savings account while Cezanne Allen, 12, of Haslett, Mich., received $150, a red carpet entrance at MSUFCU's headquarters and a limousine ride with family and friends to various stops around the area that special day. The Dollar Dog accounts focus on financial education and feature prizes, contests and giveaways such as Dollar Dog coins for $10 deposits. The coins can be redeemed for items from Dollar Dog stores at MSUFCU branches. The Millionaire for a Day contest was open to children ages 5 to 12 who made a $10 deposit to their accounts in May.
