The $615 million Tulsa Federal Credit Union won the MACQUEEAward as best in show at the annual Marketing Association of CreditUnions annual conference last week in Seattle.

The 54,000-member Oklahoma credit union was honored for its“Nothing Checking” promotion that worked the theme: “Our newchecking account is a big bunch of nothing” through television,print and outdoor elements.

The result was record checking account growth, during and afterthe promotion, the credit union said.

“Nothing makes me happier than winning this award,” said JohnSpeaker, Tulsa FCU's vice president of marketing.

The best in show winner was decided by live voting during theconference. MAC said the other finalists included the $1.3 billionArizona State Credit Union of Phoenix, the $10.6 billion BECU ofTukwila, Wash., and the $778 million Fort Worth Community CreditUnion of Bedford, Texas.

More than 200 people attended the conference and more than 60credit unions won awards.

Next year's MAC conference will be in Las Vegas, the group said.
