Volunteers from Congressional Federal Credit Union, joined by U.S. Rep. David Price (D-N.C.), were on hand Wednesday to greet World War II veterans arriving from the Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill area in North Carolina and from Tennessee to view the World War II Memorial at the National Mall. The Honor Flight Network is a national nonprofit effort dedicated to bringing the veterans to Washington, D.C., at no cost to them.
“It is a privilege to join in welcoming Triangle-area World War II veterans to our nation's capital. Our World War II veterans deserve to be recognized for their courage and their sacrifice. The aptly named 'honor flights' are ensuring that each and every one has the opportunity to see the national memorial dedicated to their service,” Price said.
