The $58 million, 8,800-member First Financial Credit Union in Skokie, Ill., said its new app for smartphones has already been downloaded more than 1,000 times in its first month.
The CU Mobile Apps offering is from Member Service Solutions LLC of Franklin, Tenn.
Fifteen credit unions are now using the easy-to-deploy, highly customizable app with several more in the pipeline, said Tom Gray, managing partner with Member Service Solutions.

FFCU is promoting the new service with a weekly $100 prize drawing for members who Tweet or post about their experience on the credit union's Facebook page.
"It's a nice, clean-looking product," said the credit union's COO, Luis Reyes, "and it's been a good choice for us. Our primary focus is to make our operations as efficient as possible—and the way to do that is through technology."
As part of its investment in technology, Reyes points to FFCU's first stand-alone facility, a new branch office expected to open this spring on West Peterson Avenue.
"Our marketing is now done almost exclusively online, and the new building will take us even further in a high-tech direction when it opens this spring," Reyes said.
The new facility will offer teller pods and iPad technology that enables more personalized, as well as more efficient, face-to-face service, he said. "We want to be state-of-the-art in our pursuit of non-traditional methods of providing the best products and services to our members."
