CUNA Mutual Group has promoted Alastair Shore to executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective Feb. 1.

He succeeds Jerry Pavelich, who retired at the end of January, according to CUNA Mutual.

Shore will lead the core financial services of the company, which include financial planning, actuarial, capital planning, controller, treasury and expense management.

Shore joined CUNA Mutual in 2006 and most recently served as chief risk officer and chief actuary. In those capacities, he was responsible for establishing a framework for the management of risk and for leading the company's actuarial functions.

“I'm pleased we were able to promote – from within our company – an experienced and qualified leader to serve as our next CFO,” said CUNA Mutual President/CEO Jeff Post. “Alastair has a wealth of insurance, financial and actuarial expertise. Combined with his understanding of our company and the markets in which we operate, he is ideally suited for this role.”
