Ten years after its parent company, WESCO Net is going through aname change.

The network solutions integrator and division of CU*Answers inGrand Rapids, Mich., is being rebranded as CU*Answers NetworkServices.

The change is to “better reflect the needs of clients andchanging competitive landscape and further distance itself from theold 'WESCO' brand that CU*Answers previously operated under,” theCUSO said.

Thecore processor changed its name from WESCO to CU*Answers in2002, the same year that WESCO Net began the business of helpingcredit unions transition from terminals to PCs.

While keeping the WESCO name for marketplace recognition, thedivision expanded services to include managed security and storage,backupand disaster recovery, IP telephony, managed hosting andvirtual desktop and cloud services to more than 150 credit unionsin 26 states, CU*Answers said.

“We are light years beyond where we started 10 years ago incapabilities and capacity to execute complex long-term projects.The WESCO Net brand at times had the unintended consequence ofputting us in a 'capabilities box' and did not recognize that weare part of an organization nearly 200 strong,” said DavidWordhouse, vice president of network technologies at CU*AnswersNetwork Technologies.
