A credit union mobile app for the new Kindle Fireelectronic tablet will be released soon by CU Mobile Apps, a startup provider of mobile apps for Androidand iPhone devices.

Amazon released the $199 tablet last month and said it expectsto sell more than 5 million of them this year alone, presenting anopportunity for credit unions to serve consumer anxious to do theirbanking on the Android-powered devices, said Tom Gray, a partner inCU Mobile Apps’ parent firm, Member Service Solutions LLC ofFranklin, Tenn.

The Kindle Fire-supporting application is a first in theindustry, Gray said, and was produced by Crash Bang Studios LLC ofTampa, Fla., which also engineered the Tennessee company’s appslaunched this past summer. “The Kindle Fire is certainly one of thebest implementations of Android on a tablet that we have seen todate, and as a mobile application development company, we have seena great many different mobile devices,” Crash Bang Studiossaid.
