The $890 million, 113,000-member Georgia United Credit Union of Duluth raised $8,250 for five local high schools through its “Kick for Schools” promotion this year. Students were selected from each school to try to kick field goals during half time of their games, with cash prizes based on the length of the kick. The five schools and their winnings were Forsyth Central, West Forsyth and Lambert at $2,000 each, Pinecrest Academy at $1,500 and North Forsyth at $750. For the rest of the school year, meanwhile, for each new account opened or additional account for existing members form the school, the credit union will donate $10 to the school and $10 to the individual.
