Five people ready to be new credit union members were waiting ata branch Saturday of Michigan Schools and Government CreditUnion, according to its COO, Lisa Burroughs.
|“We've had around 20 new members so far, way more than wenormally get on a Saturday, when we usually get one or two. We'regetting a lot of loan applications, too, and people takingadvantage of our CD specials,” Burroughs said.
|The $1.1 billion, 66,000-member Michigan Schools and Government CU has nine branches in Macomband Oakland counties in suburban Detroit, and all were open,instead of the usual three on Saturday, Burroughs said.
|The credit union's Bank Transfer Day marketing theme has been “Control, Alt,Delete Your Bank.” Staff bearing that motto on their T-shirts weregreeting members and new members this morning.
|“It's going really well,” Burroughs said.
